Time:June 17, 2015    clicks:

On 15th September, 2013, hosted by Institute of History, School of Humanities, China University of Political Science and Law and Center of Dong Fang Yi Legislative and Cultural studies, the academic symposium titled “Modern Law and Social Transformation” was held in Beijing. More than 40 experts and scholars from universities and research institutes across the country attended the symposium. The symposium was carried out around the following four issues: first, to discuss the methodology and writing mode of legal history studies. Second, to inspect the significant issues of modern Chinese legal history from the perspective of the comparison between China and the West. Third, to analyze modern Chinese legal transformation from the individual cases. Fourth, individual case studies of the legal system of Qing Dynasty. The attending scholars believed that, as an interdisciplinary subject, the study of Chinese legal history cannot be singly focused on law or history. The researchers are supposed to learn both of them. They need to bridge the gap between law and history, increase communication and mutual understanding, and further demonstrate the academic value and social functions of Chinese legal history studies.
