From August 21st to 25th, 2013, hosted by our institute, the forum, titled 2013 Economic History High-end Forum – Commerce and Business Organizations in the Process of Globalization: from 19th to 20th Century, was held in Lakeside Garden Hotel, located on the beautiful coast of East Lake. The attendants included more than 30 experts and scholars from Swansea University, Britain, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Waseda University, Japan, The University of Queensland, Australia, Hong Kong University, The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Nankai University, Xiamen University and other universities from both China and foreign countries. The forum made an extensive communication and in-depth discussion on the issues concerning dissemination mechanism of modern business information, the theory and method of the history of chambers of commerce in the view of globalization, the process and treatment mechanism of modern Chinese and foreign chambers of commerce, modern and contemporary oversea Chinese business community, chambers of commerce and the interaction between China and foreign countries and so forth.
