On November 12th, the International Symposium on "University and Modern China" and the signing ceremony of academic resources construction base were held in the multi-function hall of Guiyuan Hotel. Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan, the honorary director of the Institute of Modern Chinese History, Professor Ma Min, the secretary of Party Committee, Professor Li Zhongqing of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor Zhou Hongyu of School of Education, Yang Qun, the Editor-in-Chief of Social Science Literature Publishing House, and scholars from all over the world attended the meeting.

During the conference, Zhang Kaiyuan positioned today's universities in the evolution from church schools to today's universities; Zhou Hongyu put forward four elements that a modern university should possess; Li Zhongqing interpreted the relationship between universities and modern China from a quantitative perspective; And in Ma Min's report, he reviewed and prospected the research on the history of Chinese church-run universities.

   After the meeting, the signing ceremony of the academic resources construction base between the Social Science Literature Publishing House and Central China Normal University was held. Ma Min, the secretary of the Party Committee of our school, and Yang Qun, the Editor-in-Chief of Social Science Literature Publishing House, delivered speeches at the ceremony. Peng Nansheng and Yang Qun formally signed the contract as authorized representatives of both parties, and the leaders of both parties unveiled the plaque and took a group photo.
